THE NORWEGIAN CULTURE COLLECTION OF ALGAE (NORCCA)

Algae cultures input for work package 1 of ALGECO

The Norwegian Culture Collection of Algae (NORCCA) is owned and maintained by the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) and the University of Oslo (UiO). NORCCA has collected, maintains, and distributes more than 2000 strains of cyanobacteria, micro- and macroalgae. While some of the algae was isolated in exotic locations, like Africa and Antarctica, most originate from Norwegian lakes, rivers and coastal waters.
